Plastic Free Packaging

Gemini Truffles

The phrase ‘Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle’ has become a major slogan of sustainability; it is applicable in so many areas of our lives and we could make a significant difference if we stuck by it; especially when it comes to plastic!

Whether it’s from plastic-waste filled rivers running into our oceans, or the fabrication of plastics from finite fossil-fuels, the impact of our reliance on this material is undeniable. And let’s be fair – as everyday punters, we all know this; we recycle where possible, we boycott unnecessary usage of disposable straws, bags, etc. but still so often, plastic seems unavoidable. This is because it’s not all your responsibility: it is the responsibility of companies and retailers to change how they package their products, to cut out their use of unsustainable materials such as single-use plastics, and to offer you the ability to make choices that reduce our overall consumption of fossil fuels.

We strongly believe that all companies can work to make this easier; so in winter 2018 we proudly switched all of our products to a more sustainable, plastic-free, fully recyclable and compostable packaging. We have more work to do, more hurdles to leap, but we will always be aiming to improve how we operate, with a constant aim of reducing our negative impact.

P.S. shout out to the bundle of bubble wrap we’ve had since the beginning- you’ve been protecting our chocolate at markets for nearly 4 years!
